  1. I think America should vote for who they think is the right person to be president regardless of their race.Presidents should be chosen by their actions and traits ,not for any other reasons.

  2. America IS voting for him and if I were able to, I think that I would too. It does seem posible that electing an African-American president would create problems caused by racism, but so far he is getting a lot of “the peoples” votes. In the long run I think that Barack Obama has a really good chance to get elected president. (It’d be about time for people to get over other peoples race, and I think that if he gets president people might change their view in African-Americans and other “different” races.)

  3. This nation is ready for a good president. It should not matter on what the color of their skin is. The only thing that should matter is whether they will lead the country to good or not.

  4. If America chooses not to vote for Obama just because he is an african american, then our country has a lot of growing to do. Just because you dont like someone because of their race, you would vote for someone you dont even agree with politically? That is ridiculous. Barack Obama might have ideas that you totally agree with but you choose to overlook it because of his race, then something is seriously wrong with you. It doesn’t matter what color skin a canidate has, what matters is how the candidate can lead our country. Honestly I do think there are many ignorant and stereotypical people living in our country so I really can’t answer if America is ready for a black president. I think if you agree with what he is saying and you think he is the best man for the job then you should vote for him.

  5. I don’t see why we wouldn’t be ready for an arfican-american president. I dont see what the big deal is. I think that some americans would vote for him but in a way I dont think that people would vote for him because there are a lot of peple that are racist in this country.

  6. Even though I personally do not have a problem with an African American president, I believe many Americans would. The reason I believe this is because everyday you still see racism towards African Americans. It’s on the TV, in magazines, on the internet, it’s all over!! Many people probably think, we have NEVER had a black president….why should we now? I think Barack Obama has every right to run for president, and maybe be the next. I am so tired of people judging people on their skin color. We all are people, not everyone looks the same!! Just because we are use to seeing white presidents doesn’t mean if we have an African American that he will mess up and be terrible. It’s just a skin color. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE ARE RACIST? The voters should start concentrating on what they will do for the people, and how they will handle different problems in the country instead of saying.. Oh he is black …we have never had a black president before…should I vote for him? That is so ridiculous.

  7. I dont see what the big deal is if the next president is black. As long as he has good priorities for our country, what does it matter what color his skin is?

  8. I think that this article brings up a very interesting point. Is America ready for a black president? Well, I think that America is ready. If not now then when? If we dont try to face this now, then we may never get around to it. I believe that people may think that America is not ready. If it were not, then why would we have a black man running for president? The answer to this question is that we ARE ready. Barack Obama is just like any other man. Yes, he is black but that shouldn’t matter. He is still a member of the United States. He should be treated as a fair candidate in this election because that is exactly what he is.

  9. I think America Is ready..but are some of the people ready? I think racism will have a big impact on the vote and will or have been said that shouldn’t. I personally think that America needs a true president that will be loyal to our country not mattering what color he/she is.

  10. This is a good article for this week. I think the US is as ready as it is going to be for a black president. Even though Obama is a Muslim name he is not. If he can get the minority votes he has a great chance of winning.

  11. The fact that he is black should not have any thing to do with weather he is elected president or not. What matters is if he does a good job or not.

  12. I do not see what the big deal is having an African American person as a president. It should not be about the skin color. It should be about the peoples views on how he does his work. But probably there are a few racist people out there who dont like the idea of a black person being president.

  13. Race does not matter. America will vote for a canidate that will make a good leader. In some opinons Obama is the man for the job, in other opinons he is not. It will all depend on the majority vote. Lets hope America makes the right choice.

  14. I feel that there are too many racist people for there to be a black president. Too many people think you can judge some one by the color of their skin instead of by their actions.

  15. I think its about time we get old man Bush out of office. He has wasted too much money for our country. Who cares if the person is black, white, brown? Who cares as long as we get someone else in there?

  16. I think it is time for a new president. I agree with kyle it shouldent matter what race or religion if they are good they will get the job

  17. I think that America should not be against on having an African American to be our president. If Barack Obama thinks that he is ready to run for president then America should be ready too. If Barack Obama has good intentions on doing great things for our country then why shouldn’t he be president? We should not criticize someone just because of their skin color.

  18. I believe that people should be elected for there political background and not there race even though it will never happen. People can be ignorant and need to stop profiling people.

  19. I think it is wrong that people would vote for a president, just because of their race. If everyone wants to be treated equal they need to show it in the campaign. I understand that to some people; that are the same race as him would like to change it up and have our nations first african american president. I do not think race should affect anything, even in the simplest ways.

  20. I believe that people should vote for who they agree with. I don’t think that people should judge people on their race. They shouldn’t vote against someone just because of their skin color. I think there will be a good chance that he will not win because America today is still racist. In my opinion I also believe that America has not grown out of all its old ways.

  21. This is a very controversial issue. If Obama wins, what does that mean for America? What will racist groups such as the KKK do? I think that we should accept a black president, not because of his skin tone, but because of his actions, he just may prove to be a better president than some of our past presidents and future presidents.

  22. I believe that we are ready for an African American president because, its time for the country to swing into a different general direction. I’m not sure that some people are ready for it. I’m also a little shaky on the fact that he hasnt been in the field of politics for very long and that might affect him. If we ended up voting for a female presedent the other countries who don’t like women right might reconsider our alliances.

  23. Racism in America really needs to stop. For some reason, people think skin color will effect the way someone will run the country. America CAN be ready for a black president, but people need to stop stereotyping over a simple skin tone. People should vote for Obama if they think he will lead our country well, but they shouldn’t have it in their heads that he’ll be a bad president because he is black. They should look at other aspects about him, not skin color, to choose if he’ll be a good president.
